Out of Surgery/Recovery and Settled into her Room on the Unit!!!

Hope took a while to wake up in recovery, but she is currently settled into her room on the unit now!  Surgery went well and the "hockey puck" is gone, along with all the catheter tubing that went with it!  : )  Yeah!!!

Click on Read More below for the rest of the update. . .

Hope is doing well!  She is needing to stay perfectly flat with no lifting up of her head for the next two days.  If all goes well, we will try lifting up her head gradually on Thursday morning and see how she does before she will be able to go home.

Hope has started having some drinks of apple juice and is happy to report that her tummy is making the gurgling noises that it is supposed to make after surgery!  She is going to progress and try some yogurt in a bit here.  The trickiest part of eating is going to be doing it lying completely flat!

Hope is doing okay for pain.  She is having pain, especially with any movement.  She has an incision on the front half of her tummy and a smaller incision on her back.  Both look good.  She is taking Tylenol orally and is also on a continuous Morphine infusion at present.  She did have a small reaction to the Morphine at the very beginning, but it has completely resolved now.  She is rating her pain at a 5 out of 10 and says it is tolerable.  Sooooo wonderful to have her able to communicate so well and describe all these things that we had to guess at the last time we were in the hospital!!!

Hope is having a very low urine output and so we are praying that it will pick up as her IV fluids continue and she starts drinking more.  She had an IV fluid bolus in surgery but they are holding off giving another one for now, so that she can try to do it on her own with drinking.

She was very sleepy for a long while but has just perked up in this past 45 mins and been able to keep her eyes open.  Her vital signs have been perfect and she's just resting in bed at present listening to a movie before her little sister gets here and some visitors, which she is excited to have!

It has been a very good day as far as how Hopey has done, and we are very thankful to our awesome God for His answers to your many prayers!!!  Hope has continued to love and be so encouraged by all your precious notes!  Thank you for your love for our family and especially for our sweet Hope!  Here is a picture of our little patient. . .

Hope is quite tickled with her new stuffed bunny from her wonderful buddy, Maddie!
Hope would like to tell you all, "Thank you so much for praying for me.  Will you please keep praying that I will not have to get a back surgery.  I am feeling aches all over my body but other than that, I'm feeling great!  My tummy is growling so I'm going to try to eat some yogurt now.  Thank you and goodbye!"

You are very loved, dear prayer warriors!!!  We are so thankful to share this journey with you!  May the Lord receive all the glory and praise that He is so due through all of this!!!

Romans 12:12
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."

Romans 15:13
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."
